Coin Rubbings

Gather a piece of white paper cut into quarters, coins, and crayons.

Lay several coins down under the paper. NOTE: You should never leave your child alone with the coins as they are a choking hazard!

Color on the piece of paper, over the coin, with the crayons. It will leave a coin rubbing on your page!

You can do this over and over again, until each sheet of paper is filled with coin rubbings.

Now you can go through each coin and name them. Coins are money. We can buy things with them. Sometimes there are people that don’t have many coins and we can share ours with them.

Stack Your Cereal

Gather Play-Doh®, spaghetti noodles, a paper plate, and Cheerios® or another type of circular cereal, poured in a bowl.

Make two small mounds of Play-Doh on the plate.

Take two strands of the spaghetti noodles and break them into different heights, a tall one and a short one, and stick them in a mound of Play-Doh standing up.

Let your child put pieces of cereal on each of the spaghetti noodles until they are almost filled to the top.

Talk about how this stack has a little and this stack has a lot. We can share when we have a little or a lot. Ask if they will share some of the cereal from the big stack and give it to the little stack. Now, share some of the cereal from the little stack to the big stack.

Wrap It Up

Gather an empty toilet paper or paper towel tube, a dark crayon or marker, glue, and strips of toilet paper.

Using the crayon or marker, draw eyes and a mouth on the empty tube.

Put some glue on the tube below the eyes and mouth.

Take the strips of toilet paper and wrap them around the tube.

Continue wrapping until the lower half of the tube is completely covered.

Talk about how the wrapped tube reminds you of the story of the Good Samaritan. He helped the hurt man by putting bandages on him and we can help others too.

Heart Hunt

Gather scissors, different colors of construction paper, clear tape, and a small basket.

Cut out a bunch of hearts from the construction paper.

Put a piece of tape on the back of each heart and hang them around the house. (You may want to stick to 1-2 rooms to make it easier to find them.)

Give your child a small basket and send them off on a heart hunt! They can put the hearts in their basket as they find them.

Talk about how hearts remind us of love, and who loves us no matter what? Jesus!!!

Heart Snack

Gather a mini heart cookie cutter (Click HERE for an option), a platter, and several different types of food that your child would eat and is easy to cut with the cookie cutter. I am using cheese, salami, watermelon and an apple.

Using the cookie cutter, cut out heart shapes of each type of food.

Lay them all on the platter.

Enjoy! As you sit with your preschooler eating your heart filled snack, talk about all the times that Jesus loves us. He loves us when we’re happy and when we’re sad. He loves us when we’re at home and at school .

Jesus Loves Me

Gather a piece of construction paper, a marker,
foam heart stickers, clothespins, a paper plate, and different colors of paint.

Pour some paint onto the paper plate.

Write “Jesus loves [child’s name]” on the piece of construction paper.

Next, take a heart sticker and peel off the back. Place the sticky side of the heart on the bottom of a clothespin. You can make as many of these as you would like. (I recommend one per paint color.)

Dip the clothespin in paint and surround the page with heart stamps.

Talk about how Jesus loves each and every one of us!

Hang a Heart

Gather a piece of poster board (ideally pink, white, or red), clear contact paper (shelf paper), tissue paper (ideally pink, white, and/or red), ribbon or yarn (ideally pink, white, or red), scissors, a hole punch, and a pen.

Draw a heart shape onto the poster board and then draw another heart within it.

Cut the heart out by cutting along both of the lines.

Roll out the contact paper sticky side up and lay the heart on it.

Cut the tissue paper into squares and then place them on the contact paper inside the heart.

Then place a second sheet of contact paper over the top of the tissue paper, sticky side down, and cut out the heart.

Punch a hole at the top of your heart and attach a piece of string for hanging.

Ta-da! You have your very own heart sun catcher to hang in your window for catching sun rays. Every time we look at this heart, we can remember that Jesus loves us so big!
