God's Promise Reminder: The Rainbow

God gave us a wonderful reminder of His promise to take care of us:

A Rainbow

Here's a rainbow you can make with your child:

Gather your items;

Card stock or poster board, tissue paper,

glue, scissors and a pencil or crayon.

Let your child tear off pieces of tissue paper and 

crinkle it into a wad.

Draw lines for each color

and round off the edges.

If you would like the option to hang your rainbow,

use the pencil to make a hole in it before you begin gluing.

Now for the fun part.  Put a line of glue where your child can stick the tissue balls.

Or, if your child is the neat one, make simple dots.

Cover the glue with a line of one color tissue.

Repeat for each color.

And there you have a simple, fun reminder that

God does what He says He will do!

Two By Two: Finding the Animals

This is a fun way to talk about how Noah gathered all the animals for the ark

 AND

practice matching skills at the same time!

You'll need some index cards, crayons, a paper plate and animals.  

The easiest way to do this is to use the sticky back foam animal stickers.   

Or you child can draw animals on the cards.

Let your child stick each of the animals on a card.

Turn each of the cards upside down.

You can make a paper plate into an ark.  Color it brown and fold it in half.  

Your child can tape the sides together or you can staple it.  

If you flatten the bottom of the plate, you can stand it up.

Let you child pick two cards at a time to turn over,

looking for matching animals.

As your child finds the matches, 

they can put them "into the ark". 

Wonder-Fully Made!

We know that God made everyone in their own special way.

You and your child can make people puppets that show just how

Wonder-ful you are!

You'll need some paper or card stock,

some crayons or markers,

tape, and straws or popsicle stickes.

And, of course, googly eyes.

Everyone is more wonderful with googly eyes!

You can draw your people, 

or you can google a pattern on line

and print that to use.

You can make a person puppet for

each family member or just

your child

If you want to be very fancy,

you can use yarn for hair, 

scrap fabric for clothes

and cotton balls for those 

grandparents in the family!

You will need to use glue for those items.

Fancy puppets, may call for a fancy mess,

but it will all be

fancy fun!

Color your clothes, hair, shoes, etc to match your own. 

You can match what you're wearing while you make the craft,

 or design something new! 

Once you have finished,

you can put on a puppet show

and thank God for making you 

sooooooooo wonderful!

Fancy Fishes

When God made all the animals, 

He must have had a great time making all the hundreds of different 

fish in the waters! 

Here's a way you and your child can make your own fancy fish!

All you need is some paper 

or cardstock, 

some crayons or markers, 

and some circle stickers 

in fun colors!

 

Start by drawing an outline of a fish

Fancy Fish are happy fish...

you can tell by the smile on his face.

Make your fish scales by overlapping the circle stickers.

You could make your fish even more fancy by adding 

glitter or stick-on gems.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

God made a wonderful world full of different flowers, trees and all sorts of other plants.  Your child can make his own garden with flowers as individual as he is! 

This is what you will need:

some construction paper, straws, an egg carton base 

markers and tape.

You can make flowers in whatever shapes and colors you would like.

You can draw them with markers, or crayons. 

You can draw faces, or decorate the centers. 

If you are not afraid of the mess, you can even 

add glitter.

Make a set of leaves for each plant.

Cut out the flowers, or just cut around the edge, if the petals are too hard for your child.

Make a hole in the middle of the leaves and thread them on the straw.

Tape one end of the straw to the back of the flower.  

Poke the other end of the straw into the egg carton base.  

 

What's Up? God Made it All!

God made everything that's UP;
as in Up in the sky. 

 Here's an easy way to "hang" the sun, moon, 

and anything else that your preschooler wants to hang in the sky. 

 And it was all made by God!

Start with some card stock, crayons, yarn and a clothes hanger.

It was nice that it was blue....like the sky!

Have your preschooler draw the things that God made for the sky:

Sun, moon, stars, 

Your child can cut out the pictures, then,

depending on their fine motor skills,

you can either have them thread the yarn through a hole (you make) in the picture

or, for younger ones, 

simply tape one end of the yarn to the back.

Tie the yarn at various lengths to the clothes hanger

to "hang" the sun, moon and stars!

Place the hanger where your child can see

all the things that God made!

That's what's up! 

Ocean In a Bottle

Here's an easy way to hold the ocean in your hand!

All you need is a bottle of water and some vegetable oil.  You can embellish it from there, but here's the basic "Ocean in a Bottle":

Fill your water bottle about 3/4 full of water and add a drop of blue food coloring. 

Shake that around, then add oil to the top. 

(If you want to add fish or other items to the ocean, leave extra room.)

Replace the cap securely.  When you tip the bottle upside down

and back, it will resemble to ocean waves!

You can add fish or turtle-shaped beads to the water, if you like.

Glitter will make it sparkle, too.

Or, you can add fish stickers to the outside of your ocean!

Once you have your ocean the way you want it, 

tighten the cap, then wrap it with tape to prevent spills.
